Welcome to the 2010 SCV Relay For Life Community Website!

We made it!
Relay 2010 was over on August 31st and with a great last-minute effort by our teams, we made it to $500,000!  For the third year in a row we were able to raise over half a million dollars and continue to be in the top 1% of California Relays!

Thank you to everyone who sent out e-mails, notes, Facebook updates, tweets, and made phone calls to help us reach this amazing goal. Santa Clarita Valley rocks!! Check out the Team Totals and the 2010 Team Rankings.

Also, congratulations to Caring for You, our only
Diamond Fundraising Club Level team!  Pat and her crew worked hard to raise over $25,000 this year. An amazing accomplishment!

Congratulations Santa Clarita Valley!
Chilly temperatures and a little wind didn't keep our community away from the 12th Annual Relay For Life of the Santa Clarita Valley which took place on May 22-23, 2010, at Central Park.  It was another GREAT event, thanks to everyone who participated and to all our Survivors and sponsors! Check our photo page for hundreds of Relay 2010 photos and a 20-minute summary!  (Click photo to enlarge.)

Mark Your Calendars!
The 2011 Relay For Life of the Santa Clarita Valley will be held on May 21-22, 2011. Remember the date!

An Evening in Paris, the American Cancer Society 2010 Gala:
Gala Photo 01  Gala Photo 02  Gala Photo 03
Held on August 8th at Robinson Ranch Golf Club, this event honored local community leaders who support the American Cancer Society's mission and 2015 goals.  Honorees for the 2010 Legacy of Hope Award were (from left to right), Don and Cheri Fleming, Valencia Acura, Leadership in Mission Support, Jeri Seratti and Carl Goldman, KHTS AM 1220, Leadership in Community Awareness, and Roger Seaver, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, Leadership in Healthcare.  See the event photo slideshow.

About Relay:
Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of your American Cancer Society.  The Santa Clarita Valley is proud to be home of the 3rd largest Relay in California, raising over $560,000 last year!  For a detailed description of our event, check out Relay 101.  If you have questions, see our Contacts Page or e-mail us at info@SCVRelay.org.

Luminaria Ceremony DVD:
The Luminaria Ceremony is our time to come together as a community, and Remember those we've lost to cancer, and Honor those who are still fighting. It's a time of reflection and tears and inspiration. The view of 5000 neighbors, all standing side by side, holding candles and sending out thoughts of Hope is breathtaking. This year, our ceremony was filmed from multiple angles, and we have the unique opportunity to offer this DVD to you for a donation of just $10. All proceeds goes back to the American Cancer Society to continue this fight.  Purchase your DVD by making a $10 donation to the "Luminaria Ceremony" team.  For questions, email luminariaceremony@scvrelay.org.

Here's a New Idea: Try a Fundraising NON-EVENT!
This is a great idea from Captains Council Member Tamara Dowling. Instead of planning an event, plan a non-event! Promise everyone it will be your LAST fundraiser for the year and they can donate, say $20, to STAY HOME! No packing up the kids, no driving in traffic, no mingling required! Hopefully they will see the humor and support your fundraiser. Check out the sample flier and download the Word document to get started. Feel free to ask Tamara questions (Tamara@SCVRelay.org). Thanks Tamara for this great new idea!

We Need Your Feedback Santa Clarita Valley!
Relay Survey
Thanks to everyone who participated in Santa Clarita Valley's 2010 Relay For Life. It is only through the generous donation of time and energy that our Relay is the best in Southern California! We will continue to improve our Relay, but we cannot do this without your input. Please take a couple of minutes to let us know what you liked about Relay, what could have been improved, and any other ideas and/or suggestions you may have to help us overtake Bakersfield as #1!  Click here to take this short survey now!

We have many fun positions available on our 2011 Relay Committee, as well as "intern" or co-chair positions.  Serving on the Relay Committee is a fun and rewarding experience, and you'll be part of a team that is making a difference!  For more information, contact Jen Minard or Danika Sanchez at Chairs@SCVRelay.org. If you would like to volunteer for other ACS programs such as Look Good...Feel Better or Road to Recovery, please see our Fight Back page.

Fundraisers:
Team fundraisers are a popular way for our Teams to raise donations as well as bring the Relay spirit into our community. From restaurant fundraisers to home parties to miniature golf, there are many variations for our Teams to choose. Once scheduled, they will be promoted on our SCVRelay.org calendar and on our Fundraising Central page.

Our Teams have arranged some great Ongoing Fundraisers that raise funds for fighting cancer all year long! Look over all these great ideas, from catalog sales to innovative ideals like earning money by reviewing local business on the web! Please support our Teams' efforts!
