Sign Up Now!!! Register for Relay as a Team, a Survivor, or as an individual. You can sign up electronically using our ACS Website (click here or on the flashing "Info" sign to the left) or you can register by mail. If you are registering a team, please see our Team Page for more information, or contact Teams@scvrelay.org. If you would like to volunteer to work at the event, please complete a Volunteer Registration form or contact Volunteers@scvrelay.org.    Our Spotlight Team is HOPE Walks. They are only 1 person away from having a full 24-member team for Relay this year. The most exciting part, to us Relay nerds, anyway, is that all 23 of their current members are already registered online! Way to go, HOPE Walks! We appreciate your dedication to utilizing all of the resources provided by the American Cancer Society to make your team the best it can be. Community: SCV Young Adult Cancer/Chronic Illness Support Group: Are you between the ages of 15 & 35 and struggling with either a chronic illness, cancer, or cancer survivorship? Finally there is a place for you in the Santa Clarita Valley. More info ... Prom Night for Young Adults With Life-Threatening Illnesses:  No Worries Now is a non-profit that organizes proms for young adults (ages 13-21) with life-threatening medical conditions to empower them to celebrate who they are. They will be hosting a very special prom night on Friday, June 18, 2010 from 7:00 – 11:00 p.m. at Sony Picture Studios in Culver City. The night will include dancing, paparazzi, a celebrity guest, a magician, and dinner/dessert provided by Wolfgang Puck. Tickets, transportation, dress or tuxedo, hair, make-up, wigs and nails are provided, free of charge! More info ... Teams Captains: Our next Team Captain Meeting for 2010 will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, at Grace Baptist Church. Whether you're a first-time Team Captain, a seasoned veteran, or just thinking about getting involved, please join us! You'll find a lively, friendly group of people ready to help. Fundraisers: Team fundraisers are a popular way for our Teams to raise donations as well as bring the Relay spirit into our community. From restaurant fundraisers to home parties to miniature golf, there are many variations for our Teams to choose. Once scheduled, they will be promoted on our SCVRelay.org calendar and on our Fundraising Central page. Our Teams have arranged some great Ongoing Fundraisers that raise funds for fighting cancer all year long! Relay participants, you have a chance to help get an important piece of legislation on the California ballot--the California Cancer Research Act. Please read this important message from Jose Ramos, Volunteer Chair, Relay For Life, California Division. Interested in Getting Involved? We have many fun positions still available on our 2010 Relay Committee, as well as "intern" or co-chair positions. Serving on the Relay Committee is a fun and rewarding experience, and you'll be part of a team that is making a difference! Fight Back: Our Challenge to Team Captains Last year we had about 85% of our Teams participate in our Fight Back Team Challenge. Those teams incorporated a Fight Back message at their team campsite at our Relay For Life event. Because we had over 100 teams participate, our Event Chair, John Fortman, good-heartedly agreed to wear a grass skirt AND coconut bra for one hour at the event! It was a wonderful laugh--thanks John. This year our goal is 100% participation! Our 2010 Event Chairs, Jen Minard and Danika Sanchez, say they will NOT be wearing grass skirts this year, but I'm sure we will come up with a fun reward for our teams! So start planning your Fight Back message early this year!
