Stand Up To Cancer

I recently had the opportunity to be a part of a once-in-a-lifetime project with the StandUp2Cancer (SU2C) organization.  Their "Faces of Cancer" video will feature little vignettes of around 100 cancer survivors, caregivers, and celebrities telling their powerful stories. The video will be used to promote the campaign and clips of it will be shown during the live telethon scheduled for Friday, Sept 5, 2008, at 8:00 PM.  I had the privilege, along with my good friend Brittany Magno (a 13-year-old brain cancer survivor), to be a part of this video.  The two of us had a preliminary interview a few weeks back and were both called back for a second and more in-depth interview last week at the Universal Studios lot.  We went through hair, make-up and wardrobe so it was very exciting.  We did a lot of sitting around in between each step, but it was fun to see all the commotion--and a few celebrities--while we waited. The video is a creation of famous producer Erol Morris (he has done the Oscars) and he is donating his time for this project.  I am not sure how they will be editing the video or what the finished product will look like for the telethon, but tune in and we will all find out.

ABC, NBC and CBS will air this one-hour telethon simultaneously and commercial free this Friday, September 5th @ 8PM.

Oh!  I also got invited to sit in the front row for the live taping at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.  I guess there will be a luncheon at 1pm, then we will be seated by 4:30 PM.  The live taping is from 5 PM to 6 PM (East Coast time).  So I can still get home in time to watch it on TV at 8 PM.  Cool!!!!!!

SU2C is an advocacy campaign partnering with CBS, NBC and ABC for cancer research.  Obviously I am super excited to be a part of this national campaign.  Any time I have a chance to make a difference and help find a cure for cancer, I take it!!!!!
