Purple and White together,

Intermingled,

In unison around the track;

Families, friends, and strangers unite,

With a complete lack of quarrels,

For twenty-four hours to fight the battle for one cause.

Darkness develops and flames alight,

A mass of individuals coming together as one;

Happy pictures float by,

The smiling face of my grandmother;

Amazed, awestruck, at the unified balls of flame,

A powerful exhibition of love.

Caring.

Dedication.

Darkness is deep,

Yet alertness is still present;

The prior balls of flame extinguished,

Invisible flames still blatantly obvious.

Sun rises, the circles continue,

Twenty-four hours are close;

Together we began, together we will finish,

Units pieced together as one.
